PM Trudeau Delivers Apology for Internment of Italian Canadians During Second World War

As you may have heard over the past few months, Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau was to make a formal apology to the Italian Community to acknowledge the wrongful internment of over 600 Italians and the declaration of enemy aliens upon Canada’s over 31,000 Italian residents during the Second World War.

Last week’s formal apology by the Prime Minister of Canada in the House of Commons was important to many of us. It drove purpose in initiating the healing process for the surviving victims, their families, and the over 1.6 million Canadians of Italian origin.

The CIBPA Toronto proudly embraces the notion of diversity and believes that we must nurture the legacy of Italians in Canada and our contributions to this great country, which we call home.
