Dear CIBPA Members and Friends,

It is with sadness that we wish to advise our members of the recent passing of a friend and former president of the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association, Mr. Frank Ciccolini Sr.

Mr. Ciccolini was president of CIBPA from 1974 to 1975.  He was also the founder of the “The Da Vinci Scholarship Foundation 1976”.

The Italian community in the Toronto area and throughout Canada has evolved and expanded since the early 1950s.   Mr. Ciccolini recognized that education was the path to a better life in Canada.  The CIBPA took on this challenge by providing bursaries and scholarships to Canadian Italian students in the early sixties.   Frank Ciccolini and the CIBPA went a step further and founded “The Da Vinci Scholarship Foundation” now called the CIBPA Education Foundation.  The Foundation was incorporated as a Registered Charity in August 1976 and Frank was one of the founders and its first president.

Most recently, on January 22, 2020 the CIBPA distributed bursaries and scholarships to 22 deserving students.  The total distributed since 1976 is estimated at $909,000 of committed or distributed funds to 983 students.

On behalf of the CIBPA Education Foundation, we would like to thank Frank Ciccolini for his vision, leadership and quiet determination.    Mr. Ciccolini recognized how important it was to give back to the community and also be proud of his Italian heritage.

We extend our condolences to the entire Ciccolini family and in recognition of the contributions he made in helping others, CIBPA will be making a donation to the Project Saving Legs entity run by Dr. Giuseppe Papia at Sunnybrook hospital.
