2016-2017 Season Kick-Off
The CIBPA Toronto welcomed back friends and members for another exciting season! The harvest-themed event, held at the Old Mill Toronto (newly acquired by long time CIBPA Member, Frank DeLuca) offered a networking reception on the beautiful terrace. Thank you to Pristine Fine Foods, Grande Cheese and Adamo Estate Winery for providing delicious appetizers and wine samplings at the reception.
Our dinner was an opportunity for members to reconnect after our summer break and enjoy a hearty harvest themed meal. During the meal, the guests not only heard about the exciting calendar of events the CIBPA has planned for 2017, they were also entertained by lively and engaging guest speakers.
In the Italian tradition, Fina Scroppo, author of The Healthy Italian, and Julie Miguel, producer of Daily Tiramisu blog, shared tips on how to take the best of what the season offers and turn it into year-round staples. And John Paul Adamo of Adamo Estate Winery took the audience through the entrepreneurial journey of how his young winery has carried on old business and family traditions.
At the end of this wonderful evening, guests left with Homestyle Tomato Sauce courtesy of Primucci Products. Imported Italian tomatoes vine-ripened to perfection, then cooked with extra virgin olive oil, roasted garlic, fresh basil and sea salt, Pizza Nova invites you to "taste the difference." Thank you Pizza Nova for your continued support.

Happy Retirement - Bill Clementi
Mr. Bill Clementi served on the CIBPA Toronto Board in the early 2000's and then later when Bill became President of the CIBPA National Federation. Bill has been our RBC Board representative and CIBPA champion. Bill along with Charlie Coffee EVP (retired) was a key driver in helping establish a CIBPA Winnipeg, Hamilton and Niagara Chapter. We have the start of a CIBPA Calgary Chapter and Bill has introduced our CIBPA Calgary Team to Jeff Boyd RBC so that RBC can help launch this new chapter.
RBC has been a steadfast partner for over 25 years and was key in kick starting the CIBPA Bursary / Scholarship program in Toronto with a $10,000 donation in 2001. In fact Bill and Charlie were instrumental in helping obtain a RBC Sponsorship of $50,000 in 2000 to celebrate the CIBPA's 50th Anniversary. This support in 2000 launched the next phase of the CIBPA mandate. It was never about the money. RBC and their Executives such as Charlie and Elisabetta Bigsby believed in the CIBPA mandate and showed support by helping financially as well encouraging and supporting people like Bill and Rina Pillitteri.
The CIBPA Education Foundation of Toronto now has approximately $320,000 in endowments at York University, University of Toronto and Ryerson and has distributed $739,500 to 902 students. RBC was there at the launch of the Foundation.
Charlie always opened up his speeches at our National Federation meetings saying that supporting the CIBPA was not just good for the community it was good for RBC business. Walter Simone, Adam Sorrenti and all would agree that without Bill we would have a different RBC relationship.
Gina, we know that behind every great man there is a great woman. Thank you for allowing Bill to participate and making family sacrifices to advance the CIBPA vision.
Enjoy your golden years Bill! They are well deserved.
