Empowering Italo-Canadian Entrepreneurs and First-Generation Canadians
ITALIA360, the youth incubator program empowering first-generation and Italian descendent students in the GTA,
announces the winner of the 2024 cohort!
[Toronto, Ontario]— The Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association, CIBPA, is excited to announce the winner of the second cohort of Italia360, the incubator program developed in partnership with the world-leading tech incubator DMZ of the Toronto Metropolitan University. Italia360 is tailored to support first-generation Canadians, individuals with Italian heritage, and newcomers to Canada. Italia360 offers an unparalleled opportunity for students to develop a business under the guidance of industry leaders and innovators. The program's distinctive offering, "The Italian Touch," brings an additional layer of mentorship from over 25 accomplished Italo-Canadian business leaders committed to sharing their knowledge and expertise to guide entrepreneurs toward success. This year, Italia360 was thrilled to have extended the collaboration to York University, and its YSpace and Schulich Startups, offering additional opportunities to the participants.
The program received over 50 applications and 8 teams were selected. On the Italia360 Demo Day last September, the 8 teams participated in a dynamic pitch competition, unveiling their visionary projects, showcasing the culmination of an intense 8-week journey aimed at revolutionizing the future of innovation and competing for a chance to win a trip to Italy offered by Turkish Airlines.
At the presence of the Consul General of Italy, Luca Zelioli, the TMU Provost, Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano, and MP Anna Roberts, the 8 teams (Careplus, Restyle, Ment Projects, Spuddy, Peartree & Clover, Learn Reward, Silver Steps and Chicky Bakes) presented their pitch in front of 90 guests and the jury composed by DMZ and the main sponsors: Deloitte, RBC and Pace Law.
Italia360 congratulates Julia Pia, and her Ment Projects, meant to modernize mentorship by streamlining processed and offering innovative digital resources like The Mentorship Podcast and Ment app to revolutionize career development, winner of the 2024 cohort.
